Beautiful work? I have 4 chairs that are a of similar style but a little smaller and less decorated. Unfortunately, 3 were left our on a patio and on the back porch and are terribly weathered. I thought of restoring them so searched for videos like yours. I’m not sure if I have the time and ability to take on a full-blown restoration job Or if I should simply donate the chairs.

Where I live a sheet of Birch 18mm (3/4”), is about $200. Consider the average income in my country is about 1/3 of Western Europe and US, I treat every scrap like it’s gold and only use it for absolute necessities.

Just wondering. Wouldn’t it have been a good idea to secure the middle support board to the back board before attaching the back board to the porch? And then securing the middle board in to the front board and then applying the top step boards?

I just got done doing this to my own kitchen. Some recommendations. I drilled pocket holes and used cabinet screw to secure the boards together along with the glue. Also dowls to keep things aligned. Harbor freight is you friend here. You can also buy pipe clamps. You get the clamps at HF and the pipe from a plumbing store. Al little extra expense for long pipes to get a good clamp. I also bought these ratchet strap style clamps. They really squeezed the gaps closed. IDK anything about the stain used, but make sure it's food safe for the kitchen and stain the hidden sides as well to help avoid moisture damage when water/spills drip down the sides. All that's a little extra work but helps ensure they last a really long time.

My husband just used a masonry saw in the house to cut a small piece of kitchen cabinet off to make room for a new fridge that’s tall. There’s fine particulate matter in the air. It’s been like a haze for 2 hrs. I’m not sure what to do :(

now i want to experiment. i bet a light sanding of the osb before the mud would make a better result, i.e. like the edges that got smoothed by the saw blade. maybe even a quick but heavy sanding with a belt sander

For those of us with no real carpentry experience, what size wood is good to use for a step? In this video did you use a 2x4 or 2x6? Also can it be cut with a handheld circular saw? I don’t have the saw you used in this video. Thanks!!
